Event to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis, the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults, with activities, entertainment, and accessibility for all.
On May 31, you can Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History at the Elizabeth Street Gazebo in Bell Park . Registrations open at 10 a.m. and the walk starts at 11 a.m. The 22nd annual event is hosted by the Greater Sudbury Kinette Club, raising funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis , a progressive genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.
A release from the Kinette Club states that cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults, and while advances in research and treatment have significantly improved life expectancy, there is still no cure. Funds raised through the walk help support critical research, access to life-changing medications, and specialized care for those living with CF across Canada.
The event is open to everyone, whether participants choose to walk, volunteer, donate, “or simply come out to show support. ” The area is fully accessible for participants of all ages and abilities, states the release.
And if you have “brains in your head and feet in your shoes, and can steer yourself any direction you choose” then you’ll love the Dr. Seuss theme for the event, your chance to dress or accessorize in the spirit of a Dr. Seuss character. There will be an opening ceremony, festivities for kids, and entertainment that includes a performance from Naked Soul. There will also be 50/50 tickets with the draw happening immediately after the walk.
Those interested in taking part can register online, donate, or sign up to volunteer by clicking here.
