The Calgary Roughnecks lost their game against the Philadelphia Wings despite a strong debut performance from rookie Brayden Mayea.
The Roughnecks got a promising debut performance from Brayden Mayea Saturday, but Philadelphia scored the final four goals to defeat Calgary 13-11. Mayea, the Roughnecks ’ fifth overall pick in the 2024 draft, scored twice and added an assist in his National Lacross League (NLL) debut, including one in the final quarter that put the team ahead 10-9 before the Wings erupted for four straight goals.
Curtis Dickson led the Roughnecks on Saturday, scoring four times and adding a pair of assists, while Tyler Pace added a goal and five assists, the same as Jesse King. Calgary returns to WestJet Field for the next two weekends, including next Saturday, when they take on the Georgia Swarm for Marvel Super Hero Night. The Roughnecks will be wearing Guardians of the Galaxy-themed jerseys
