Manager Torey Lovullo said the only thing firm on Davies’ upcoming schedule is a bullpen session on Wednesday, though he did allow for the possibility that Davies’ next outing will come in the majors. “It’s a very stable outing,” Lovullo said. “You know what you’re going to get. He’s going to pitch into the fifth or sixth inning and keep you in the ballgame. He’s going to be an important part of this team as we continue to move forward. We’ve just got to make sure we pull the trigger at the right time where he’s healthy and ready for that challenge and the opportunity.
Lovullo said Adams’ history pitching late in games for the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres gives him the confidence to use Adams in key situations despite him having just returned to the majors. “There were other teams, but a lot of teams balked because of the medicals,” Adams said. “I’m very grateful that this organization was like, not so much we don’t care about the medicals, but, like, we’ll get you healthy and get you back to where you can be and need to be. That was very appealing to me.”*Catcher Carson Kelly is expected to start hitting off live pitching for the first time since suffering a forearm fracture in March, Lovullo said. “We’re really happy about that,” Lovullo said.
