The airport authority has hired independent firms to help conduct a review to determine how to improve service following weather\u002Drelated disruptions.

During a series of blustery winter storms last month, planes were grounded, passengers slept on the floor of airports or were stranded in other countries, and thousands of bags were misplaced.

Vrooman said YVR will conduct an “after-action” review that will bring together airlines, partners, suppliers, and employees, to figure out the best steps to take to improve service. She added they have hired KPMG and global aviation planning and advisory firm, Arup, to assist in this review. “The pandemic was tough on aviation and travel. And the industry is still recovering from it. The 26,000 employees who work at YVR have been resilient, creative and empathetic throughout. All qualities on display recently and all qualities needed in the future,” said Vrooman.
