Student loan borrowers, in 2020, gathered outside the White House to call on President Joe Biden to cancel student debt. A reader says debt plays an invisible hand in career choices.Recently, I needed to drive down Broadway to do business with a company I have traded with for decades. As I went down Broadway, I was shocked to see not just a lane or two closed but all lanes, both north and southbound, closed.

That debt pushes students to pursue more lucrative medical specialties. But America also needs our best and brightest as primary care physicians. All young adults should participate in public service in return for some help in gaining a trade, associate, four-year or graduate/professional degree. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and New York Mayor Eric Adams are berating Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for transferring migrants to their cities.If the Biden administration would do its job of protecting our border and halting the unprecedented influx of migrants, transferring them to other cities would not be necessary.
