As Californians move to Texas, a reader offers a warm and hearty welcome. But also asks them to remember why they left. Don’t change Texas into Texifornia.Enough! My opinion started the same way in 2018 and in 2020. There needs to be a law against negative campaign ads against any candidate, regardless of political affiliation.

Republicans in Texas must really be in a panic that they and their media consultants must resort to cherry picking the words of Democratic candidates, Beto O’Rourke and Mike Collier, to make their ads. If anyone is wondering, I also don’t like the negative ads being put out by Democrats. Don’t get me started on the cost of any election, especially the $200 million for the governor’s race.COVID still a dangerFolks, there is still significant COVID out there. For various reasons, we have become complacent about COVID. Let me remind all: If you are older than 65, have diabetes and/or are overweight, you are at high risk.

I realize that masks, in general, have picked up a bad rap, but the N95 masks can protect you from people with COVID. What makes matters more difficult is that in otherwise healthy persons younger than 65, COVID symptoms can be very mild and are often overlooked.Welcome to all of our friends and neighbors who have moved here from California. We hope you too will love all of the many, many great things that Texas has to offer.
