Mateo Lopez, the Guinness World Record Holder for being the youngest mariachi singer, will sing alongside several other mariachi performances to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month tonight at The Historic Pearl.

PUBLISHED 12:32 PM CDT Sep. 16, 2022As Hispanic Heritage month proceeds, the Historic Pearl is kicking off festivities with a night full of music on Friday, Sept. 16.

Mariachi music will fill the air beginning at 5 p.m., underneath the shaded structure in front of Southerleigh. This event will include a variety of entertainment, including Mateo Lopez, the youngest mariachi player in the world. Las Coronelas and Mariachi Azteca will play alongside Mateo Lopez, who holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest mariachi singer. They will begin at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. While they are performing at Southerleigh, Trio Chapultepec will perform around the rest of the property.

Between the mariachi performances, there will also be games and activities sponsored by the Mexican Consulate and H-E-B. These events include loteria games, guitar painting, a traditional grito by Consul General of Mexico in San Antonio Ruben Minutti, a grito contest, as well as a performance by Stilt walkers from the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.You can check out the list of events and pop-ups going on until Oct.
