For the Muise family of Wedgeport, Yarmouth County, their story began on an August camping trip, explains mother Jasmine Muise. She was diagnosed with Myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, and Pericarditis, which is swelling and irritation of the saclike tissue surrounding the heart. Muise explains there is something called CRP – a C-reactive protein. A normal number should be around two. Maddy's was 234.
The fluid was drained but during a procedure her lung was punctured and collapsed. And later, while examining the pericardial sac, her heart got punctured too.
