Here are today\u0027s Ottawa Sun letters to the editor.
If we, as in the West and in particular Canada, are going to isolate Russia, economically, diplomatically and culturally for its ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine, then there is a need to look at Russians coming to North America to play professional hockey. For players such as Alexander Ovechkin to spend the summer in Russia and then come back to the NHL while Canada continues to support Ukraine on multiple fronts makes no sense and is insulting to Ukrainian forces resisting the invasion.
Here’s food for thought: Fossil fuels such as natural gas and propane fuel standby and emergency generators. Emergency generators provide power for lighting, fire alarm systems, fire pumps, firefighters’ elevators, stairwell pressurization fans and many other life safety systems in highrise buildings, hospitals and many other types of buildings.
How would you like to have no way to operate a standby generator? Or, better yet, be in your 15th floor apartment, with a fire on your floor, but no emergency generator to run the fire alarm, no exit stairwell lights, no fire pumps to provide firefighting water? No elevator to expedite rescue and fire suppression efforts?
