Klapka has carried that confidence into the playoffs, with two spring snipes so far — both in the third period of a tie game. He and Dryden Hunt were the only Wranglers with multiple markers in the series against the Canucks. Progress isn’t measured only in goals and assists, especially for a guy who projects as a bottom-six sort if he can complete his climb to the NHL.There has been a focus on improving some elements of his skating — including his starts, separation and agility — and his puck skills in tight spaces.
“From where he was in Penticton in the rookie tournament back in September to where he is now, I’ve seen a lot of growth in his game,” Love said. “He’s still a young player, still learning the North American game, but this is the time of year that a player like that has to come to the forefront.”Klapka, one of two rookies in the Wranglers’ playoff lineup, is now aiming to continue his roll in what should be a doozy of a series against the Firebirds, the top affiliate for the Seattle Kraken.
