That's exactly what happened when I stumbled upon painter, who creates portraits so detailed, it's hard to believe they're the work of one person.
His paintings seem to carry one common theme, and it's skin — skin that's not perfect by any means. If you've ever seen your own, texture, freckles, hair, or discoloration and wanted to magically erase them, Grassi's portraits might change your way of thinking. His large-close up paintings examine skin in its purest form, even if that skin has a few imperfections on its surface.
According to Grassi, these oil paintings can take anywhere from a few months to years to complete. "The process always starts from an idea, from some sketches, but in most cases arises from an intuition — something that you perceive and that is defined only over time, even when the work is about to end," he says.
