This week, Adam Castillejo, known as"London Patient" and the second person to be cured of HIV, revealed his identity in an interview with."I want to be an ambassador of hope," he said, detailing how a bone-marrow transplant for his cancer diagnosis replaced his immune system and fought both cancer and HIV. His bone-marrow donor carried a mutation that hinders the entry of HIV into cells, making Castillejo's immune system resistant to the virus.
