The Mississauga, Ont. , native made six birdies, an eagle and three bogeys en route to his best round of the week thus far in Caledon, Ont. The 24-year-old started his day with a bang, making eagle on the reachable opening Par 5. He closed out the front-nine three below par and was 2-under on the back, despite making bogeys at both 16 and 17.
Yellamaraju briefly held the outright lead Saturday afternoon and sat in a tie for fourth place at the conclusion of his round, two shots back of leader Jackson Suber at 12-under. Amateur Justin Matthews and veteran Adam Hadwin each shot 4-under Saturday and sit at 7-under for the week. Matthew Anderson was also 7-under during his round Saturday afternoon after being one of several golfers tied for the lead at the end of Round 1. A.J.
Ewart and Ben Silverman were both 4-under for the tournament after Saturday’s round while Adam Svensson was 2-under after struggling with a 1-over round of 71. Nick Taylor, who won the 2023 Canadian Open with a miraculous putt to defeat Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff at Oakdale in Toronto, was 8-over Saturday and sits at 6-over for the week.
