Stacey Cook hadn’t slept in a week. She’d barely eaten. The thoughts in her mind kept swirling. Racing. All she could think about was the victim impact statement she was going to read in court on the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 6| SaltWire

A sentencing date had already been adjourned in November and then again in December. Now, another new date would have to be selected. “One last time,” the defence said about the need for an adjournment. It will be asking the court to give Siscoe more credit for his time in pre-sentence custody. To help justify this argument, the defence has received daily shift records from the Central Nova Correctional Facility in Burnside that documents how many times during the week Siscoe was allowed out of his cell, how many times he got to go outdoors for exercise, and also what impact staff shortages, the lack of programming, etc., have had on his remand time.

Wayne Richard Crawford, 39, entered a guilty plea to a charge of second-degree murder on Jan. 3 and will be sentenced May 30.
