Yarmouth mother disappointed by ongoing sentencing adjournments in her son's murder case. The Jan. 6 sentencing of a Yarmouth man who last July pleading guilty to accessory to murder after the fact last July was adjourned, again.

She’d barely eaten.All she could think about was the victim impact statement she was going to read in court on the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 6. The one where she would tell the court about what life has been like since her 26-year-old son Colton Cook was murdered in September 2020.

“They go to their little video booth because they know it's gonna be cancelled again. They don't even have to show up to court. They look completely rested and have had three meals a day,” Cook said about the toll the adjournments take on her and her family. The defence said it has thousands of pages of documents to sort through outlining the conditions of Siscoe’s remand since he went into custody following his arrest in December 2020. It had hoped to have the task concluded by Jan. 6, but couldn’t finish in time.

The defence told the court its objective is to present the court with a sampling of the best month and the worst month “to demonstrate what the conditions were at the facility.”Morrison did put on record the fact that the Cook was family had expressed “profound disappointment” about the adjournment. He spoke about how difficult it had been for Stacey Cook to prepare for her victim impact statement. He asked that the court reschedule the sentencing for as soon as possible.
