Jones, who signed a two-way contract with the Flames over the summer, is now questing to earn another shot at the top level, to feel that feeling again.
The Wranglers, after climbing to the .500 mark at 5-5, are aiming to continue their roll in Friday’s road matchup with the Manitoba Moose. Jones was selected as a seventh-round long-shot in 2017, the last of a dozen picks in the first draft class in Golden Knights’ club history. He skated three pro seasons in their system, highlighted by that week-long recall last November, but didn’t receive a qualifying offer from his original employer.Article content
“I think for me what stood out was their identity, the way they play up top,” Jones said, explaining his decision to sign with the Flames organization. “I think that fits a lot with my game — that 200-foot, hard to play against, need to dig in every chance you can … That kind of identity that Darryl has, I think it fits really well for my game and I’m just trying to bring that every night.
