Later when attending Truro Junior High School and Cobequid Educational Centre Poole continued to play badminton. Good in a number of sports – he also played tennis under Bob Piers and gave football a try as well. Poole’s next move was to Calgary where a high-performance badminton training centre had been established by the Canadian Badminton Association.
“Winning my first National title in Men’s Doubles in 1984 will always be unforgettable to me,” Poole said. “My partner Bob MacDougall and I defeated the defending champions. The confidence I gained from winning that title was a major factor in the future success I had.” “My main contributions to Badminton Canada have been around the history of the game. I updated all the previous champions and past presidents records, created an alumni program, restarted the Hall of Fame inductions, and helped set up displays at various events.”
