What begins as a relatively tranquil Monday will transition tonight into multiple precipitation events featuring both rain and snow

A dynamic, increasingly active weather pattern will dominate this week, with multiple waves of precipitation impacting the Sault region. What begins as a relatively tranquil Monday will transition tonight into multiple precipitation events featuring both rain and snow.

Much colder air will plunge southward and combine with a large storm system on Thursday, bringing widespread heavy snow, followed by rain. Relatively quiet conditions prevail Monday across the Sault region under mostly cloudy skies as high pressure settles over the province. Temperatures will climb to around +6°C in the afternoon with light westerly winds shifting to northeast by evening. Light rain will overspread the area after midnight, with a period of freezing rain and ice pellets possible. Winds will increase from the east at 15km/h with gusts to 28km/h overnight. Tuesday brings overcast skies and the risk of isolated pockets of heavier rain. Most locations can expect 4-5mm of total rainfall by sunset. Temperatures will struggle to reach +2°C despite the clouds and rain, with a sharp drop as the system exits in the evening. East winds will persist at 15km/h with gusts to 30km/h. The surface low's departure will usher in much colder air, sending overnight lows plunging to -7°C. Wednesday will feature considerably colder conditions as a strong high- pressure system anchors itself over the province. Skies will be mostly sunny with temperatures barely climbing to +1°C in the afternoon before falling back to -6°C overnight. Northeast winds will continue at 15km/h. Attention then turns to Thursday as a Colorado Low approaches the region, bringing the potential for widespread snow as daytime highs linger around freezing. The snow changes to rain late Thursday and into all of Friday as temperatures climb several degrees above freezing. The unsettled conditions continue into the weekend, with more rain and snow possible.
