Was every solution I presented for small businesses before the federal and provincial governments accepted? No. Was it a challenge to appear before the federal finance committee twice to propose changes? Yes. Was it a challenge to appear before the provincial standing committee on finance and economic affairs twice to ask for more support? Yes.

If PSAC wants to negotiate with the government successfully, it must take a similar approach. Calling out elected officials surely will not help the union in the negotiation process, nor will it win the support of the public. Being professional, productive and polite wins support and a desire to re-evaluate conditions.Article content

She is not alone; many Canadians need the PSAC workers to return to work and process, at the minimum, such basic requirements.Article content I understand that people must make a living wage and that the pandemic changed the working environment. Many government workers have told me, many times, that the costs of not paying for parking, gas, public transportation, food and beverages by working from home has saved them thousands of dollars. Perhaps PSAC could look at the annual average savings of their members working remotely and consider those numbers when negotiating a percentage raise.
