Dolly S. Hendrickes, 41, contends in a filing Monday in U.S. Middle District Court her sentence is too harsh and she should be given the opportunity for rehabilitation. Previous appeals by Hendrickes, an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Muncy, in the state court system have been unsuccessful. She is now representing herself.In her new appeal, she claims the Oct. 10, 2019, crime occurred in the heat of passion. She testified at her trial that she was in the midst of a psychotic episode during the murder.A minivan driven onto the wide concrete median at Cameron Street and Arsenal Boulevard and slam into Andres Claudio, 68, from behind.

Claudio had gotten out of the van moments earlier amid an argument with Hendrickes, according to evidence presented at trial.,” Hendrickes said when testifying on her own behalf. “My thinking at that time was not clear I didn’t think before I reacted.” Dauphin County Judge Richard A. Lewis at the July 15, 2021, sentencing told Hendrickes: “Your actions in this case were as bizarre as they were horrific. Then you drove home and relaxed on your back porch.”
