Police obtained home surveillance video showing a woman stealing the bike
A woman who allegedly stole a child’s bicycle from a home in View Royal last week will be in court next month.
Cpl. Nancy Saggar said West Shore RCMP received a complaint about the stolen bicycle on June 7. The officer responding to the call obtained home surveillance video showing a woman stealing the bike. A few days later, officers on bike patrol spotted the same woman on the E&N Rail Trail near Helmcken Road. She was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court. The stolen bicycle hasn’t been found.
Saggar advised bike owners to keep a record of bicycle serial numbers because it helps officers return stolen bikes. West Shore RCMP has a bike registry program. For more information on the program, go to their website: westshore.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/.
