Fortin, who once headed Canada’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout, has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer says his identification as the alleged perpetrator is “vigorously contested.”
In 1988, when they were both military college students, a woman awoke in her barracks to find Dany Fortin masturbating himself with her hand, she testified on the stand at Fortin’s sexual assault trial on Monday.
The woman’s identity is covered by the standard publication ban used for complainants in sexual assault cases. “I’m horrified, I’m horrified. I don’t want anybody running in and finding me in that position, somebody doing that to me, demeaning me.”“I want to look and see before I actually react,” she testified.
There were even times they found themselves sitting next to each other at meetings, the woman testified, prompting her to ask that it never happen again.Fortin arrived at the Gatineau courthouse Monday morning dressed in his military uniform and accompanied by his wife. when they gathered outside a Gatineau, Que. police station after he had presented himself to be criminally charged.Fortin became the face of Canada’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout following his appointment, giving regular media briefings on deliveries of vaccine doses across the country.
