A woman charged with caring for a disabled person at a Monmouth County residential treatment facility allegedly left them in direct sunlight long enough for them to suffer second-degree burns and heat stroke, officials said.
Valerie Pinchinat, 28, of Linden, was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday on one count of third-degree neglect of an elderly or disabled person, according to a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office., a residential facility which provides habilitation, support and monitoring services to people diagnosed with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, the office said.
The patient, an unidentified woman, was left in direct sunlight long enough to cause second-degree burns to her legs, chest and arms, investigators said. Her body temperature reached 106 degrees. She had to be taken to Bayshore Medical Center and on the way there, she had to be intubated.
