A woman who broke into a pensioner’s home and carried out a ‘sickening and brutal’ attack has been jailed for more than seven years.
The pensioner was left with a broken nose, bruising to his face and a bleed on the brain
When the elderly man refused, McDonnell attacked him, hitting him to the floor before unplugging his home so he could not call for help.During her raid on the supported accommodation, McDonnell stole from a total of two pensioners and a support worker.Officers found stolen property, including a bank card at the address, as well as the clothing she was wearing at the time of the attack.
The pensioner’s family asked police to release pictures of the injuries he suffered in the ‘sickening and brutal’ attack She was also filmed near the supported accommodation shortly after the incidents took place, and was later picked out on an ID parade by three different people. After pleading guilty to theft, robbery and burglary, McDonnell, who is a drug addict, was sentenced to seven and a half years at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday.
