Woman injured in drunken fall sues Jersey Shore bar, says they served her too much alcohol
In a file photo from May 2021, patrons at Martel’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant Beach.A woman who was injured in a drunken fall last summer has filed a lawsuit against Martell’s Tiki Bar and its bartenders, alleging they kept serving her alcohol even though she was clearly intoxicated.
Martell’s and its bartenders negligently “served and sold intoxicating substances … while she was in a visibly intoxicated condition,” states the lawsuit, filed June 7 in Superior Court of Union County. The suit does not state how or where Santoro fell. The attorney who filed the lawsuit did not immediately respond Tuesday to a request for comment.
An attorney for Martell’s did not return a call seeking comment. In an answer to Santoro’s complaint, however, Martell’s lawyers say that if the woman was injured, the injuries were caused by her own “contributory negligence.”
