A beauty therapist who was sacked by a Kettering health retreat 11 days after announcing her pregnancy has won a tribunal and a £14,000 payout. Homefield Grange Retreat, where Agneta Plewa was employed, has previously been visited by celebrities such as Amanda Holden and Carol Vorderman.
The mother won her claims of discrimination as the panel ruled she had been sacked because of her pregnancy. She has been awarded £14,257 in compensation.At NorthantsLive we're more than just news. However, during early 2018, a number of staff were made redundant with the spa being forced to close for a week due to a lack of business. Later that year, Mrs Peck sold the laser hair removal machine and no bookings were taken for hydrafacials after July. "I know it’s something you have worked so hard at and both Hans and I are thrilled for you both. Homefield has and continues to see a downturn in business since September 2017... In our 14 years of business we have not experienced this situation before. As a result of this we have had to let team members go...It has been a real struggle.
Then on July 14, Miss Plewa was made redundant with one month's notice with Mrs Peck claiming it was due to the downturn in business and the fact they couldn't afford to employ her or guarantee her hours.
