Officials called it a very difficult rescue that required ropes to reach the woman and to bring her up.
FORKSVILLE -- It took approximately three hours to rescue a 23-year-old woman who fell 50 feet down a cliff at World’s End State Park in Sullivan County Sunday morning.
The female was attempting to take a picture from Highrack Trail a little before 7 a.m. when she fell down the steep drop-off, he said.Volunteer firefighters from throughout the county responded and set up a rope-hauling system. Also summoned was Taskforce 80 from Lycoming County, which specializes in rescues.
Once she was brought up, she had to be carried by hand about a half mile along the trail that is only about two feet wide in places, a Task Force 80 member said.
