Toronto police were called to an apartment on High Park Avenue in the early hours of Monday morning. A 44-year-old woman, who was at the apartment, attempted to climb down her balcony during a police interaction and tragically fell to her death.
Ontario's police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), is currently investigating a fatal fall in Toronto 's west end that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. According to the SIU, the incident unfolded just before 2:00 a.m. when Toronto police officers responded to an apartment on High Park Avenue in search of a wanted individual. Upon arriving at the apartment, officers encountered a 44-year-old woman. Subsequently, the woman attempted to descend her balcony.
Tragically, during this attempt, she fell and was discovered by the officers on the ground. Paramedics were immediately called to the scene, but despite their efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries. The SIU, an independent agency responsible for investigating incidents involving police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, firearm discharge, or allegations of sexual assault, is actively probing the circumstances surrounding this fatal fall. Investigators are appealing to anyone who may possess information, video footage, or photographs related to the incident to come forward and assist with their inquiry.
