A 34-year-old woman has died after she was stabbed in Montreal's Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

Posted: Apr 09, 2022 7:50 AM ET | Last Updated: 36 minutes agoA 34-year-old woman has died after she was stabbed Friday evening in Montreal's Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.Police were first called at around 7 p.m. about a conflict in an apartment on Aylwin Street between Sherbrooke and Hochelaga Streets.

Police found and arrested the suspect not far from his apartment, where the attack occurred. He was taken to hospital for an injury to his hand and was to be interviewed by investigators.According to Manuel Couture, spokesperson for Montreal police , the suspect appeared in court Saturday and will remain in custody until his next court appearance early next week, when he will be formally charged.

Couture said the suspect was known to police for violent incidents like armed assault and uttering threats.
