Police said the woman was arrested early Sunday at the Willie Henderson Sports Complex on suspicion of resisting arrest, brandishing a weapon and on an arrest warrant

Police arrested a homeless woman early Sunday in a city park after she brandished a knife at officers, San Diego police said.

The woman was standing by a fire at the Willie Henderson Sports Complex, which is located at Logan Avenue and 45th Street in the Mountain View neighborhood, around 1:20 a.m. when police approached her, said police Officer Sarah Foster. She was holding a shovel, police said. Officers told her to drop the shovel, but she refused. Then she took out a knife, Foster said.Officers arrested her for brandishing a weapon, resisting arrest and for a previous arrest warrant, police said. Foster said she did not know what alleged crime she was being sought for under the warrant.
