A 16-year-old boy was killed early Monday morning and more than a dozen people were shot over the weekend in Chicago, according to police.
Fourteen people were shot in 12 separate shooting incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, the Chicago Police Department said Monday. Of those victims, one person, a 42-year-old woman, was killed.
That woman was found just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday inside her black SUV in the 3300 block of West Cuyler Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, police said. Just after 2 a.m. Monday, a 16-year-old boy was shot by an unknown person who fled on foot in the 5-100 block of East Grand Avenue. The victim was shot twice in the chest and once in the knee, and was pronounced dead on scene.
