'It was a fun night and to get the win on top of it made it more special.' Just days before the NHL's trade deadline, the Flyers capped an emotional night for captain Claude Giroux with a comeback victory.
Kevin Hayes scored a tying goal late in the third period, then assisted Joel Farabee's game-winner with 1:19 remaining to lead theto a 5-4 victory over the Nashville Predators on Thursday after they honoured Giroux for playing in his 1,000th career regular-season game.Travis Sanheim had a goal and an assist and James van Riemsdyk and Cam York also scored for Philadelphia, which snapped a three-game losing streak while winning for just the sixth time in the last 30 contests.
Filip Forsberg scored to tie the Predators' all-time goals record with his 210th and Roman Josi had three assists for Nashville. Tanner Jeannot, Philippe Myers and Ryan Johansen also scored for the Predators, who remained tied with Minnesota for third place in the Central Division. Forsberg's highlight-reel, between-the-legs tally 1:11 into the third put Nashville up 4-3 and matched David Legwand's team mark. And the score stayed that way until Hayes tied it with 4:15 left when the rebound from Rasmus Ristolainen's attempt from a sharp angle was poked away by goalie Juuse Saros right into Hayes and over the goal line.
"You could tell right from the get-go everyone wanted to make this a special night for him,'' interim coach Mike Yeo said.
