When the recent flare up over the future of gas stoves quickly turned into a cauldron of controversy, New Jersey residents had good reason to be concerned.
New Jersey kitchens rank second in the nation for gas stove use at 69% of homes. California just barely edged out New Jersey at 70% and just seven states have 50% or more homes using gas stoves. The national number is 38% of households, according to 2020 data from the federal Energy Information Administration.
