Filing for the May 6 election begins Wednesday and runs through Feb. 17.

“I would like to serve out Ana’s term and try to make sure that we can do some of the things that were set as priorities for District 7, things like the bond issues that still need to be looked at,” Castro said. “Given my background, the fact that I understand the city and how it runs, I think I can be very helpful and useful to the council because I understand the issues and the staffing part of it as well.”That may give her a leg up for the interim spot.
Before SA Digital Connects, she was the innovation business development director for San Antonio insurance and financial services giant USAA. She has close ties to San Antonio’s burgeoning tech community. Rossiter had been serving on the Brooks Development Authority Board of Directors but stepped down Tuesday to run.
In September, shortly before a contentious council vote on what to do with $75 million in surplus CPS Energy revenue, District 1 Councilman Mario Bravo, Sandoval’s former romantic partner,Bravo told Sandoval that her action illustrated why they had split up and why he didn’t want to have children with her. Bravo’s outburstSandoval said personal and financial considerations affected her decision to resign from council.
Sandoval expressed similar sentiments, saying she doesn’t think anyone who temporarily fills her role should be running for the May election.
