Writer, actor and comedian Zainab Johnson is one of 13 siblings who grew up in a Muslim family in Harlem. That mix of silly and serious seems to come naturally for Johnson. But, she says, her family didn't always think so. Johnson spins some not-so-funny topics into laugh-out-loud anecdotes, including a traumatic personal experience from her childhood. As a Black Muslim, she also hopes her personal stories help non-Muslims see how much they all have in common.
