The week will start out mild with periods of rain for New Jersey before a chance of snow, sleet and freezing rain for northwestern counties Wednesday night.

There will be little to no accumulation of snow. Instead, forecasters are more concerned about the possibility of freezing rain and a coating of ice in northern areas. “Probably not enough to cause damage to trees and wires but enough to make for treacherous travel,” the weather service said in its Monday morning forecast discussion.
After a quiet start to the week, the weather pattern will get more active midweek with a system arriving late day Wednesday. For the majority of our forecast area this will just be rain but to the north there will be the potential for freezing rain.
