With the trees free of leaves and nesting activity picking up, it's now a good time to spot bald eagles in Northeast Ohio.

Some other popular locations to spot eagles include Bruce Yee Park in Eastlake, Lake Erie Bluffs in Perry Township in Lake County, and Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area in Trumbull County. Eagles often are spotted along the shore of Lake Erie and along the rivers in the Cleveland area.

Mature bald eagles are easier to see because of their white head and tail. Eagles younger than 5 years old still have mottled brown and white plumage and can be more difficult to spot, according to ODNR. The agency recommends people use a good set of binoculars or a spotting scope.
