Guard Scoot Henderson has long been seen as a worthy top selection for most draft years, this one just happens to have a freak of nature at the top. As consolation prizes go, Henderson is seen as a fantastic one.
The NBA made the lottery rules tougher in 2019 in order to discourage teams from tanking. It appears to be working. Detroit is the fifth straight team with the fewest wins to fail to win the lottery.The Rockets consistently fail at the lottery. This time they could have actually won the rights to Wembanyama had they not won a coin flip with the Spurs a few weeks ago. It meant the Rockets were just one ball off from the winning combination of 14, 8, 5 and 2, because the flip gave them a 1 .
