A wind advisory has been upgraded to a wind warning for parts of Vancouver Island this week.
Strong winds at Dallas Road on Dec. 9, 2022 caused waves to crash against the shore line.Environment Canada is warning of strong winds for north, west, and east Vancouver Island on Sunday and Monday nights.The strongest winds are expected in northern Vancouver Island on Sunday and Monday, with winds gusting up to 90 to 110 km/h, according to Environment Canada.
West Vancouver Island can also expect strong gusts, with winds expected to reach 80 to 100 km/h on Sunday, before dipping to 60 to 80 km/h on Monday. Meanwhile, winds are expected to reach 70 km/h to 90 km/h along east Vancouver Island on Sunday night, before easing slightly on Monday. “Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage,” warned Environment Canada in a notice Saturday. “High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.”CHEK Newsletter
