'It's like a stab in my heart every time it happens'
A woman from Preston has said series of targeted vandal attacks have left her "heartbroken" and "demoralised" after the death of her husband.
Years on, the couple dedicated their lives to community work - setting up companies like Plastic Free Preston that focused on tackling excessive plastic waste and helping vulnerable people in the area. Michael died on August 4 2021 after suffering a pain in the head. The sudden death changed Beth's life forever but holding on to his legacy and what he stood for is what mattered most to her. During lockdown in 2021, Michael and Beth decided to set up a planter in Ashton. It was placed on island at the junction on Edgerton Road and Tulketh Road with the aim to brighten up the area and add a "bit positivity" for the people of Ashton.
"Michael was passionate about Asthon, he was well into politics too and he always wanted to represent Ashton, he was the councillor that Ashton never had, he even said he wasn't bothered by which party he would be in just that he wanted to represent Ashton. He did end up being Independent and he did extremely well in the last elections.
