Before the game, a sense of sombreness was in the air, he said. The tailgate, which is usually flamboyant, was a little muted. Earlier in the day when he got together with friends, they only talked about family, work and weather. Not football. But when the game kicked off and“Some people cheered, some hugged and high-fived their friends. Others cried. There were grown men in my section openly weeping,” said Parnham.
The Bills Mafia Canada family stretches beyond the GTA as well. Out east in New Brunswick, Brian Pilling has transformed an entire section of his property into what he calls a free-standing headquarters for. About 20 people from the area are regulars, but drop-ins are accepted too. Everyone in his family has been Bills fans forever. They would use vacation time in Peterborough to drive down to Buffalo and catch a game.
