The NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury will broadcast their games for free next season for more than 2.8 million households in Arizona. Fans outside of Arizona can purchase Suns games on NBA League Pass.

The NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury will broadcast their games for free next season for people who live in Arizona.

Here’s how it will work: Arizona stations KTVK and KPHE will broadcast a minimum of 70 Suns games and Mercury games between them each season. Separately, fans will be able to stream games on a Suns or Mercury app.More than 2.8 million households in Arizona will now have access to these games next season, which more than triples the reach that the Suns had under its contract with Bally Sports, according to Front Office Sports.

“The agreement is subject to the approval of the NBA and WNBA and any required resolution with the incumbent regional sports partner,” Gray Television GTN, +2.46% added in a news release outlining the deal. “We need to reimagine these relationships,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said about regional sports networks on “The Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast” in April. “In terms of the fundamentals of the business, everyone sees what’s happening in the television market. You’ve had a dramatic decline in the number of television homes.”
