Jagmeet Singh and the NDP are on a collision course with Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. Who will swerve first and call an election? Singh finds himself in a difficult position. On the one hand, his supply-and-confidence agreement with the governing Liberals has yielded early wins with the national dental care program for children and increases to rental and GST benefits.
On the other hand, a lot remains outstanding from the original agreement, and Singh and the NDP have added to their demands. I believe those factors make a 2023 election at least a 50-50 proposition.
