Smoke rises following Israeli airstrikes in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023. Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order Thursday declaring a state of emergency in Florida due to the Hamas attack in Israel.
In declaring the state of emergency, DeSantis wrote that those issues “constitute a major disaster” in Florida. Many major airlines, including U.S. carriers Delta, American and United, have ceased flights to and from Tel Aviv since the conflict began.
