Fran Drescher said that when President Trump appeared on 'The Nanny' in 1996, he wanted one word changed in the script.
When Fran Drescher sees President Trump now, she always remembers the time in 1996 when the-then New York businessman appeared on her sitcom, The Nanny.
The thing that stands out to her in particular is a request he made through his assistant about how he was identified in the episode titled “The Rosie Show.” He played himself in it, just as he did in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Sex and the City and other TV shows and movies set in New York City.
“I stood in this scene, and I said to the two of them, ‘All you millionaires are alike,’” Drescher told Seth Meyers on Monday’s episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers. Afterward, Trump’s assistant sent a note to her then-husband and Nanny producer Peter Marc Jacobson: “Mr. Trump is not a millionaire. He’s a billionaire and we’d like you to change the script.”“But I thought that seemed too on the money,” Drescher said, “because I know Fran would have described anyone who was rich as a millionaire. But to say billionaire seems like a specific choice. So we asked him if it would be OK if we wrote zillionaire.
Drescher is making the rounds for her new show, Indebted, about a family of non-millionaires. She plays half of a couple who have squandered away their fortune and now need help from their son and his wife. It premieres Feb. 6 at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.
