Policies to reduce emissions from the transportation sector require multiple long-term policies for effective change. Two effective and complementary approaches include addressingby requiring a supply of electric vehicles through what is commonly known as a “Zero Emission Vehicle” policy, and addressingby implementing a “Low-Carbon Fuel Standard,” to drive reductions in the GHG impact of fuels.
