As we now creep into February with total silence from CDPR about the PS5/Xbox Series X release of Cyberpunk 2077 and its accompanying patch, I’ve started to formulate a theory about what’s actually going on here.
My advice, as it has been the last couple months, would be to pick up a cheap copy of the last gen version so you get a free, upgraded, “fixed” version of Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out, which I’m telling you, is probably going to be pretty good, judging by the current state of the PC version, and the work done over the course of the past year.
If you’re an Xbox player and you think that CDPR is going to be the next company to put their struggling game on Game Pass to boost players, CDPR has been very clear they have no plans to do so, and Cyberpunk 2077 will not launch on Game Pass for this Xbox Series X version. Even if I’m wrong about this, my advice still stands. If you have any interest in the next-gen “fixed” version of Cyberpunk, your best bet is to get the last gen version now for the free upgrade. I really do think it could be a surprise drop any day now.
