Pro-Palestinian encampment at Dalhousie University - May 13, 2024 | SaltWire #news #halifax #protestST. JOHN'S, N.L. — As Newfoundlanders and Labradorians continue to feel the effects of doctor shortages, the Tories are calling on the Liberal government to pay nurse practitioners like they pay doctors.
Petten believes the Alberta program should be replicated in N.L. as the province works to address physician shortages. He expressed concern for those living in Baie Verte - Green Bay and LaScie, who have concerns over access to health care. "I notice the Member is very focused on private health care with nurse practitioners, as Alberta has done. They also have private X-ray and private MRI. Is he just as interested in private health care as the Alberta government is in that?" Osborne said in the house.
"But our argument is this is a great add-on to the family doctor shortage. Why can't they bill the government?"During the exchange, Osborne and Petten seemed to be on the same page of different books.
