Apple TV+ changes mean Astros fans will have to pay more to watch every game in 2023
The April 28 series opener between the Astros and Phillies, a rematch of last year's World Series, will air exclusively on Apple TV+, with fans needing a paid subscription to watch.The first month of the Astros’ 2023 season includes series against their past two World Series opponents.
Apple TV+ announced its schedule of Friday night MLB games through June 30, and the Astros will have two games on the streaming service. Unlike during Apple TV’s inaugural 2022 season, when the Friday night games were offered for free with just an Apple ID needed to access the streams, a subscription is required to watch this year. Apple TV costs $6.99 a month, with a seven-day free trial.
The bulk of Astros games are televised on AT&T SportsNet Southwest. ESPN will exclusively air the March 30 season opener and World Series banner-raising ceremony against the White Sox as well as the April 16 and April 30 home games against the Rangers and Phillies, respectively.
