Bpbby Rankin, a 64-year-old man from Charlotte, had personal reasons for being angry at Mitch McConnell, he told The Washington Post.
The internet went crazy after video surfaced of a pallbearer skipping Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in a handshake line at a memorial service for Rep. Elijah Cummings last week.
You may want to read: After Rand Paul calls Kurds 'ingrates,' Bette Midler brings up sore subject on Twitter “I could not put my hands in the man’s hand who refused to help somebody who served his country,” Rankin said, later adding, “I couldn’t do it because I was thinking about my brother.” A funeral for Cummings was held Friday morning at the New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, where he worshiped for nearly 40 years. Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton were among the dignitaries who spoke during the service.
Rankin first met Cummings at a gas station in Baltimore more than 20 years ago, according to The Washington Post. The two struck up a conversation and quickly became friends.
